A Kind of Compulsion, The Complete Works of George Orwell, vol. X (1903–1936), artikel 194, s. 336-37.
Ur Orwells recension (mars 1934) av boken Critique of Poetry av Michael Roberts.
It is not generally realized, or is commonly forgotten, that the process of thought differs vastly in different people; some people think chiefly by a series of visual images, others almost entirely abstractly. Mr. Roberts seems to suggest that the visualising type of mind is necessarily a more primitive type than the non-visualising — a very disputable suggestion, for the power visualisation is possessed in addition to the power of abstract thought.
